Using MSDN and the FAQ
Written by Jeremy McKean
Many students in various MIS classes have upcoming deadlines for assignments involving software downloaded from MSDN AA. Please read the following if you have questions about downloading from MSDN.

We have two seperate Frequently Asked Questions available that may answer your questions without having to wait for an answer from us. They are:
  • The General MSDN AA FAQ - Answers questions about how to get to MSDN and who's eligible
  • The More-Specific MSDN AA FAQ - Answers questions about how to retrieve your credentials and how to download and use your software. Questions about what to do with those ISO files you sometimes get are also answered here.
At some point in time, I'll combine these two FAQs into a combined resource for easier perusal. However, please note that 95% of the questions we recieve can be answered by looking through these FAQs.

If you joined an MIS class after the semester started, you may not have access to MSDN AA yet. Please check this first by testing the "Forgot My Password" function as detailed in both of the FAQs to verify this. If you get a message saying that the username is not recognized in the system, you haven't been entered in yet. Please send us a message via the Support or Registration link found at the top of the page and list your name, email address and the class you're trying to get software for. Please be sure to test your access at least 24 hours in advance, as we make no guarantee that we can answer your question before then.

If you have a Mac, MSDN has very limited Mac software. We do not have copies of Access for Macs.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to use the Support and Registration function to send a support request.  If you send us an email the night before your assignment is due, I reserve the right to harass you for slacking off and to ignore your support request.

MSDN AA update for MIS
Written by Administrator
As of this semester, we are piloting a new process to enroll MIS students into the MSDN Academic Alliance. First of all, if you are an undergraduate or graduate MIS major, you are already enrolled in MSDN AA.

Secondly, if you are a student in an MIS course, you are also eligible to enroll for the Microsoft software. Instructors may elect to bulk enroll their entire MIS class into MSDN AA by simply sending an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it For students in other MIS classes which have not been bulk enrolled, you can register using the Lab's online form (at the top, "Registration" link).

If you have any questions about MSDN AA, please see our MSDN AA FAQ.

How does this website look to you? Good, I hope... (UPDATE!!)
Written by Edwin Skidmore
It has been brought to my attention that the website may look horrible for users of Internet Explorer version 6 and earlier (IE7 and Firefox users should see the website just fine!). This is one of the disadvantages of designing websites for the latest browser technologies (and not having access to older browser versions). But, with 36.9% of the users on the internet still using IE6, I plan to fix this ASAP. Please let us know if you notice any other irregularities on our website.

In the meantime, you might consider either upgrading your PC with IE7 or using Mozilla Firefox.
